Astrocartography: What Each Planetary Line Means on Your Map

Your natal chart changes based on where you live. Planetary lines show you where you thrive.

Astrocartography is one of the most practical branches of astrology. It takes your natal chart and projects it onto a world map, showing planetary lines that cross different cities and regions. Each line represents the influence of a planet at that specific location. Living near your Jupiter line is a completely different experience from living near your Saturn line. ERA calculates your astrocartography map and explains what each line means — not with generic descriptions, but in the context of your complete progressed chart.

How astrocartography works

Your natal chart is calculated for a specific place. If you moved to another city, the positions of planets in signs do not change, but the houses do — because houses depend on local time and latitude. Astrocartography maps the four angles of your chart (Ascendant, Midheaven, Descendant, and IC) for each planet at every point on the globe.

The result is lines crossing the world map. Where a planet's line passes, that planet sits on one of the four angles of your relocated chart — which enormously amplifies its influence. Living within 200-300 km of a planetary line is enough to feel its effect.

Sun and Moon lines

Sun line: where this line crosses, your identity is amplified. On the Sun-MC line, you become more visible, recognized, and authoritative in your career. On the Sun-Ascendant line, your personal presence shines with greater intensity. Excellent locations for leadership and public visibility.

Moon line: where this line crosses, your emotional life intensifies. The Moon-IC line is ideal for establishing a home — you feel emotionally rooted and connected to the place. The Moon-Ascendant line makes you more emotionally perceptive but also more vulnerable. Good locations for family life and work with the public.

Personal planet lines: Mercury, Venus, and Mars

Mercury line: communication, learning, business. Living on your Mercury line favors intellectual work, commerce, and social connections. Ideal for writers, traders, and students.

Venus line: beauty, relationships, art, pleasure. Your Venus line is where love, aesthetics, and abundance are amplified. It is one of the most sought-after lines for relocation. Good for relationships and creative careers.

Mars line: energy, action, competition, conflict. Your Mars line gives you energy and motivation, but it can also generate conflicts and accidents if not channeled well. Good for athletes, entrepreneurs, and people who need drive. Less ideal for those seeking peace.

Outer planet lines: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto

Jupiter line: expansion, luck, opportunities. The most favorable line for relocation. Where your Jupiter line crosses, life expands: professional opportunities, beneficial connections, personal growth. But Jupiter can also exaggerate — watch for excess.

Saturn line: discipline, structure, restriction. Living on your Saturn line forces you to mature and build seriously. It is not comfortable, but it produces solid results. Good for establishing professional authority.

Uranus line: change, innovation, instability. Your Uranus line brings constant surprises. It is exciting but unpredictable. Good for reinventing yourself, bad for seeking stability.

Neptune line: inspiration, spirituality, confusion. Your Neptune line can be magical or disorienting. Ideal for spiritual retreats or creative work. Risky for financial decisions or relationships — reality gets clouded.

Pluto line: transformation, power, intensity. Your Pluto line changes your life profoundly. It can be a rebirth or a period of extreme crisis. Not a line to move to without preparation.

ERA and astrocartography: your map with progressed chart

Most astrocartography services show you the lines and give you generic descriptions of each planet. ERA goes further: it interprets your lines in the context of your complete progressed chart.

If your progressed Venus recently changed signs, that modifies how you experience your Venus line. If your progressed Saturn is aspecting your Sun, your Saturn line will feel more intense than a generic description suggests.

ERA does not give you isolated information. It gives you integrated interpretation — how each line works for you, now, with your current planetary configuration. That is the difference between reading a manual and receiving personalized guidance.

What makes ERA different

ERA interprets your astrocartography lines in the context of your complete progressed chart — not generic planet descriptions.
